Salary: $86,480 - $86,480 per year
A bit about us:This is a vibrant, well-resourced special education preschool serving children ages three through five with developmental delays and complex support needs. The school is part of a major nonprofit organization operating more than 70 programs and serving over 35,000 adults and children throughout New York City, Northern New Jersey, and Westchester.
The therapy department was built to let clinicians actually practice therapy—not spend the day negotiating for treatment space, equipment, or permission to try something new. You will have your own desk, access to a large state-of-the-art therapy gym, dedicated treatment rooms, and supplies that go well beyond what most school-based clinicians are accustomed to having.
Have an idea for a new treatment approach, piece of technology, training, or in-service? Leadership is willing to listen and move. You should not need three meetings, four approvals, and a carrier pigeon to obtain equipment that could help a child.
This is meaningful work with children and families who may be navigating significant challenges. The right Physical Therapist will be resilient, creative, collaborative, and firmly committed to advocating for the children—even when progress requires patience.
Why join us?- $86,480 annual salary for the full-time, 10-month Physical Therapist position
- 10-month school-year schedule that provides considerably more built-in time off than a traditional 12-month clinical role
- Consistent 8:00 AM–3:30 PM hours that give you your evenings back
- No more than nine treatment sessions per day—and leadership does not keep increasing the number once you arrive
- At least two hours of dedicated documentation time each day, so paperwork does not automatically become homework
- Additional blocks of documentation time are provided each month
- Access to a large, state-of-the-art therapy gym, dedicated treatment rooms, modern technology, and extensive clinical supplies
- Your own desk and designated workspace rather than completing notes wherever you can find an open chair
- Flexibility to adjust your schedule when legitimate needs arise
- Full-time opportunities with potential consideration for part-time scheduling
- Clinical autonomy to introduce treatment ideas, recommend equipment, and develop creative programming without excessive public-school red tape
- Opportunities to lead trainings, in-services, and professional development initiatives
- A collegial therapy department where Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists work together
- Medical, dental, vision, prescription, life insurance, retirement, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off
- A paid birthday holiday, plus three conference days after successfully completing probation
Many school-based clinicians accept overloaded schedules and unfinished documentation as part of the profession.
It does not have to be.
Here, treatment volume is controlled, paperwork time is built into the workday, and therapists are given the space, equipment, and freedom to do the job they were trained to do.
